The air from the grate cooler is around 1050℃. The alkali salts mixed with the air are gaseous above 700~800℃ and will diffuse through the pores of lined refractories, which may lead to alkali bursting. Moreover, the air filled with clinker dust travels in the duct at a velocity of 25~30m/s.
Therefore, the refractories in this unit must have good properties of alkali and abrasion resistance.
